Voltage Drop Testing
Find excessive resistance by measuring the voltage consumed across a cable, connection, switch, or ground while current is flowing.
01 // TEST PROCEDURE
Measure the circuit under load
1. Load the circuit
Operate the starter, lamp, motor, or other load. An unloaded circuit can conceal resistance.
2. Measure across the path
Place the meter leads at opposite ends of the cable or connection being tested.
3. Narrow the fault
If the drop is excessive for that circuit, test smaller sections until the resistance is isolated.
