The EVAP system has detected a large leak or inability to establish the expected pressure or vacuum.

What P0455 means
P0455 indicates a substantial EVAP system leak or an inability of the system to seal during its self-test.
A missing fuel cap, disconnected hose, stuck-open valve, or significant component leak may be responsible.

What can trigger P0455?
Missing or unsealed fuel cap
An improperly installed or damaged cap can create a large leak.
Disconnected EVAP line
A loose or broken hose can prevent the system from sealing.
Vent or purge valve fault
A valve stuck open may create a large leak condition.
Damaged EVAP component
A cracked canister or other component can produce substantial leakage.

Start here
Check the fuel cap
Confirm the cap is present, correctly tightened, and sealing properly.
Inspect hoses and connectors
Look for obvious disconnections or damage.
Test EVAP valves
Verify purge and vent valves operate and seal correctly.
Perform a smoke test
Use appropriate smoke-testing equipment to locate substantial leaks.
