Random / Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
The engine control module has detected misfires affecting multiple cylinders or misfires that cannot be isolated to one specific cylinder.
01 // CODE DEFINITION
What P0300 means
A misfire occurs when one or more cylinders fail to produce normal combustion. P0300 is used when misfire activity is detected across multiple cylinders or when the control module cannot consistently identify a single affected cylinder.
The code does not identify one failed part. Ignition faults, fuel-delivery problems, vacuum leaks, low compression, timing issues, and engine-management faults can all cause P0300.

What can trigger P0300?
Spark-related problems
Worn spark plugs, weak ignition coils, damaged wires, poor connections, or ignition-control faults.
Fuel-delivery problems
Low fuel pressure, restricted injectors, contaminated fuel, or inconsistent injector operation.
Unmetered air
Vacuum leaks, intake leaks, PCV faults, or incorrect airflow measurement.
Compression problems
Burned valves, worn rings, valve-timing issues, head-gasket faults, or other mechanical problems.

Check for additional codes
Look for cylinder-specific misfire, fuel-trim, airflow, ignition, or other codes that may narrow the diagnosis.
Review freeze-frame and live data
Note engine temperature, RPM, load, fuel trims, and the conditions present when the code was set.
Inspect ignition components
Check spark plugs, coils, wires where equipped, connectors, and signs of arcing or contamination.
Check fuel delivery
Verify fuel pressure, injector operation, and fuel quality where appropriate.
Check for vacuum or intake leaks
Look for unmetered-air sources that can create a lean condition across multiple cylinders.
Verify mechanical condition
If ignition and fuel checks pass, perform compression, leak-down, or timing-related tests.

P0300 identifies a condition detected by the vehicle control system. It does not automatically identify one failed component. Test the affected system before replacing parts.
