What P0301 means
P0301 means the control module has detected abnormal combustion events associated specifically with cylinder 1.
The cause may be ignition, fuel delivery, compression, wiring, or another condition affecting that cylinder.

What can trigger P0301?
Cylinder 1 ignition fault
A worn plug, weak coil, damaged wire, or poor electrical connection may prevent proper ignition.
Injector or fuel problem
Cylinder 1 may have a restricted, electrically faulty, or poorly supplied injector.
Low compression
Valve, ring, head-gasket, camshaft, or valvetrain problems can reduce cylinder contribution.
Localized intake leak
An intake leak near cylinder 1 may create a cylinder-specific lean condition.

Check related codes and live misfire data
Verify whether cylinder 1 is consistently accumulating misfire counts.
Inspect the spark plug
Check condition, gap, deposits, contamination, and evidence of abnormal combustion.
Swap the ignition coil where practical
Move the coil to another cylinder and determine whether the misfire follows it.
Evaluate injector operation
Verify injector command, electrical integrity, and fuel delivery.
Check compression
Compare cylinder 1 compression with the remaining cylinders.
